Competition rules

Key rules

 

1. The competition is open to individuals or groups aged between 13 and 21.

2. Entrants under the age of 16 must have their videos submitted by a responsible adult and parental consent must be obtained.

3. The closing date has been extended to 25 April 2008.

4. Videos cannot exceed 100 MB and must be no longer than two minutes.

5. Videos must be submitted in digital format, with one of the following file extensions only: avi, mov, mpg, or wmv.

6. There is no limit on the number of clips that can be submitted, but you agree to complete one submission form for each clip, and to make sure that you name your clip file with the same title as you enter on the online form.

 

The small print

 

7. By entering this competition, entrants agree to be bound by these rules. In the event of any dispute regarding the rules, competition notice, conduct, results and all other matters relating to the competition, the decision of CILT shall be final and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into (except point 12).

8. You must provide us with your name, email address and contact details if you wish to enter this competition.

9. Entrants must supply full details as required above, and comply with all rules to be eligible for the prize(s). No responsibility is accepted for ineligible entries or entries made fraudulently.

10. Consent must be obtained from anyone appearing in the video and all parties must be aware that the clip may be made publicly available on the internet. It is the responsibility of the individual submitting the clip to ensure appropriate permissions have been granted. CILT reserves the right to obtain written consent from an adult if deemed necessary.

11. We reserve the right to cancel this competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in our opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of our control.

12. CILT will not upload any clips deemed offensive, inappropriate and/or irrelevant or those that we consider to contain any form of bullying. If we decide an entry is not admissible, we will explain our decision.

13. By entering the competition, you give us the right to publish your clip on our websites and/or in DVD format, and for it to be used publicly to promote languages.

14. Proof of posting or emailing cannot be accepted as proof of receipt. We cannot accept responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft, destruction, alteration of, or unauthorised access to entries, or entries lost or delayed whether or not arising during operation or transmission as a result of server functions, virus, bugs or other causes outside its control.

15. The decisions of the judges are final and their deliberations confidential. CILT reserves the right to disqualify any entrant if it has reasonable grounds to believe the entrant has breached any of these terms and conditions.

16. Winners will be notified by 31 May 2008 and the winning clips placed in our video log on YouTube.

17. If you are not able to take up a prize that involves travel, we are not obliged to offer you an alternative.

 

Liability

 

18. CILT cannot accept any responsibility for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any entrant entering the competition or as a result of accepting any prize. CILT is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software failure of any email or entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet, telephone lines or at any web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to entrant’s or any other persons computer or mobile telephone related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials related to the Competition.

 

Jurisdiction

 

19. These rules are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
